Radiomarathon: everlasting love for the children of special needs
The Radiomarathon constitutes a great example of voluntary commitment by both outstanding individuals as well as common people of all ages, residing in Cyprus and in any other place with Cypriot and Greek communities, towards those children who are facing life with a fighting spirit, determination and passion.
Through multi-famous events, the Radiomarathon sensitizes and informs the public on the issues regarding the children with special needs, thereby facilitating the change of mentality towards this problems and the reintegration of these persons in the society at large. In parallel, it collects substantial material sources that will help render this problem less
20 years of Love
During these 20 years, the Radiomarathon, from an event, which was motivated by a social problem, has developed into a massive social institution that has been embraced by the whole society. It has substantially contributed towards overcoming the prevailing, until then, prejudice regarding the problem of persons with special needs.
Since the first Radiomarathon, twenty years ago, more than 30 million euros , distributed to 17.000 and more individuals and special institutions and organizations for children with special needs.
The Radiomarathon for children with special needs is organised by Marfin Laiki Bank and Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and constitutes an immensely important social and philanthropic even. This year’s Radiomarathon is organized on 24,25 and 26th of October.
The aims of Radiomarathon:
- Moral and material solidarity for children with special needs.
- Informing and sensitizing the whole society and every single citizen
- Creation of a social model regarding the method of dealing with children with special needs.
- Strengthening the efforts for the integration of children with special needs into the society.
- The collection of funds and their allocation among the various foundations of children needs, associations and isolated cases of children, for the purchase of equipment, the provision of proper therapeutic treatment or the improvement of their living conditions.

- idiopathic psychokinetic retardation
- chromosomal disorders
- isorders of the formation of the central nervous system
- genetic syndromes, myopathy/neuromuscular disorders
- cerebral palsy
- orthopaedic problems
- disorders of vision and hearing -autism
- retardation and or speech disorders
- learning, disability
- psychiatric and psychological problems
- hydrocephalus
- haematological disorders
- oncological diseases
- cardiac diseases
- diabetes mellitus
- epilepsy
- asthma
